Foot Surgery

A few months ago, I had foot surgery. It was three surgeries all at the same time. I couldn't put any weight on it for 7 weeks. This is me with the post-surgery cast and the walker.
The spouse and the boys took really good care of me. I recovered and had visitors - none of whom I remember (sorry!) - and watched TV and read books and news until I was begging to return to work.
Foot is much better now. Gaining strength daily but still no biking...yet.

Oklahoma is OK

Our Eldest Daughter left this past week on a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is serving in Oklahoma - we think that is OK. This is a picture of her coming down the escalator at the Denver Airport on her way to the Security Line. There was just a bunch of tears after this so no photos were available...somehow. More updates to come.

Saturday is a Special Day

Krista and I were both woken by Kaleb Saturday morning at 6:00 am. He was in extreme pain to the point of dry heaving. One of his family jewels was swollen to twice the normal size. I gave him a blessing and then called our Doctor. The Doc said it was "testicular torsion" and we should immediately get him to the emergency room and would we like an ambulance. While not life-threatening, the thing can be saved if taken care of quickly. We took him to the Children's Hospital Emergency Room and we were pushed to the front of everyone else. They gave him Morphine for the pain. The main doctor said it was the biggest dose of Morphine they had ever given. They prepped Kaleb and then off to surgery. Krista and I realized we had not eaten at all so we had brunch in a hospital cafeteria. As I was chewing on the bland food, Krista realized this may be the cheapest part of our day at $20. Kaleb came out fine and they were able to save the "jewel". He was quite loopy from the anesthesia and was asking for a cone on his head, wanted to take the hospital gown home, wanted same color curtains in his bedroom, liked the tiles on the floor and many others. Took him home and all is well.

You are OLD!

I was reading an article about sounds you will most likely never hear again found here http://goo.gl/Av77i

While I was listening and reminiscing, the spouse and eldest one said in unison, "That is annoying!" And I realized it was an annoying sound. The sound they said that to was the modem connecting sound.

Have fun listening/reminiscing.

Youngest One's Birthday

He was excited to get this game.

Graduation

The Oldest has graduated and is now a "normal" member of adult society. Graduation Day was so hot, it took several paramedics hopping to help all the people passing out. We made it without incident...just the realization that we are OLD!

A Different Generation

Saw this at a lake the other day. Showed it to our teenagers and they had no idea what it was. I wonder what things they know today that they will show to their children and they will have no idea what it is?

Mountain Biking Green Mountain

The Middle One and I went on a Mountain Bike Ride.  Here we are posing. I think my muscles are bigger - the table muscles and the regular muscles.

Joe's Crab Shack

We finally went to Joe's Crab Shack this past week on a date. I really enjoyed my fish and chips and here is Krista attacking a crab with gusto! The problem with crab-meat is a whole lotta work for very little pleasure.

More Snow Pix

The last storm that came through this past weekend gave us here in south Denver about 25 inches of snow. This is one of the "snow monsters" from the backyard view of our house.

Snow Day

This is before the shoveling (and the whining)

Fit or fidn't dit?

Trying out the old sleeping bag.  Does it fit? The middle one may need a new sleeping bag so this one will get handed down to the youngest one. I think an REI garage sale is in order soon.

Christmas Victuals

We love being different every year.

This year we decided to have TV dinners instead of making a big meal or going out for Chinese or our usual tradition of Pizza.

Everyone picked their own meal and we didn't skimp either, there is a Hungry Man or two in there.

For Dessert….Apple Pies.

Happy Holidays to all

Halloween Bliss!

Finally!  We have been bribing the kids the last few years. Our deal: the Parental unit does not have to buy any Halloween treats, costumes or take anyone to any parties and we give you a $15 iTunes card.  This is the first year they have taken us up on the offer.  So long sugar - you have been banished from the house for today.
